Norton & Brooksbank, the premier livestock auctioneers in the UK, are delighted to announce that from May 1st 2010 they will be merging with Livestock International Ltd. The new business will trade under the name of Norton & Brooksbank International Ltd and will build on over 25 years of business excellence and customer service.
The current partners in Norton & Brooksbank, Christopher Norton and Tom Brooksbank will be joined by Paul Westaway as a partner in the new business. Nick Kirby who co-owns Livestock International with Paul will remain as a valued adviser and consultant in the new business.
As well as continuing to run the best auction sales for Dairy farmers, the new business will expand into several new areas:
1) The new business will have the most cutting edge private treaty sales register in the world; based online the register will be updated daily and will include dairy and beef cows bulls and embryos.
2) A heifer sale barn has been established for customers to visit and select stock of all ages in one place.
3) A globally qualified lairage has already been established to simplify and maximise exports of British cattle.
4) A monthly collective sale will be established in the south of England for all ages of dairy stock.
5) There will be a quarterly online auction of heifers and embryos from leading UK cow families.
6) We hope to establish an annual beef event to mirror the successful Perth bull sales with other industry partners, in the south of England.
The new business will be based in Trull near Tetbury
Commenting on the merger Tom Brooksbank said “We are really excited about our future; we feel the UK can once again be the stockyard for the world and the merger with Livestock International allows us to champion UK breeders and their cattle both nationally and internationally. We have established a successful business over the last 25 years and look forward the next quarter century with great enthusiasm”
Paul Westaway commented “I am delighted that our two companies have come together in such a mutually beneficial way for our customers. Norton and Brooksbank are globally renowned for quality of service with the highest integrity. Our new business will couple this fantastic history with the opportunities technology allows to provide a cutting edge service for our customers”
Paul will be with the Norton and Brooksbank team at the upcoming Libertyview, Willsbro and Weeton sales in April. The partners in the new business are looking forward to meeting customers both old and new at these prodigious sales.
