This spring has seen as few farm sales of dairy cattle as I can remember. We have had a good start to the year with two flying sales in January, a tremendous sale at the National Holstein Show and a very successful dispersal in Hampshire at the beginning of March. (more...)

2009 starts on a high note
Our sales calendar started with 2 highly successful sales in Lancashire on January 20 & 22. The Tarnbrook Sale saw the dispersal of a fine herd with 70 years of history, occasioned by the emigration to New Zealand of Andrew & Priscilla France. 5 animals made 5,000 guineas or more with the young stock a particularly strong trade. The 109 lots averaged £2,582 with 27 heifer calves @ £1,557. (more...)

Despite the recession (which is now official we’re told!), cattle prices remain buoyant. We hear tales of a grade trade for stores in the beef sector, and we, as dairy auctioneers, can report a similar story. (more...)
